Read this before applying anything you find on this blog to your own life. It’s important.
I am a coach, not a therapist
I am a Professional Life Coach (PLC). I am not a Licensed Professional Counselor, a psychologist, a psychiatrist, a social worker, or a marriage and family therapist. The scope of what I do is different from the scope of what those professionals do.
What that means in practice:
- I do not diagnose mental health conditions.
- I do not treat mental illness.
- I do not provide therapy or counseling in the clinical sense.
- I do not prescribe medication or refer to medication.
- Nothing I write is a substitute for the care of a licensed mental health or medical professional.
If you are working with a therapist, psychiatrist, or doctor, follow their guidance over anything you read here. If you are not working with one and you think you might need to, please find one.
What this blog is
Educational and inspirational writing about relationships, marriage, communication, and personal growth, drawn from twenty-plus years of coaching experience. It’s general guidance for a general audience. It is not personalized advice for your specific situation.
Reading a blog post is not the same as having a conversation with someone who knows you, knows your husband, and understands the specifics of your life. Apply what you read with judgment.
When you need a professional, not a blog
Please reach out to a qualified professional immediately if you or someone in your relationship is experiencing any of the following:
- Domestic violence, physical abuse, or threats of harm. Call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233 (1-800-799-SAFE) or text “START” to 88788. International readers, please look up the equivalent service in your country.
- Suicidal thoughts or self-harm. In the US, call or text 988 (Suicide and Crisis Lifeline). International readers, please look up your local crisis line.
- Active addiction (substance, alcohol, gambling, etc.). Reach out to a treatment professional or program in your area. SAMHSA’s National Helpline in the US is 1-800-662-4357.
- Severe depression, anxiety, or other mental health crisis. Speak to a licensed mental health professional. If you don’t have one, your primary care doctor can refer you.
- Child abuse or neglect. Call the Childhelp National Child Abuse Hotline at 1-800-422-4453.
Nothing in any blog post on this site is intended to address any of those situations. If any of them are present in your life, the blog is not the right resource. Get qualified human help.
Results disclaimer
Every relationship is different. Every man is different. Every woman is different. The patterns I write about are common patterns I’ve seen, but no article can guarantee a specific outcome in your specific marriage. What works for one woman may not work for another. Apply with judgment, observe what happens, and adjust.
No client-coach relationship
Reading this blog, subscribing to my email list, or downloading a free guide does not create a coaching relationship between you and me. A coaching relationship requires an explicit agreement and is governed by a separate engagement letter.
External links
I link to outside sources, books, studies, and other practitioners’ work. I do not control those sites and am not responsible for their content. A link is not an endorsement of everything on the linked site. It’s an endorsement of the specific content I’m citing.
Affiliate and sponsorship disclosure
Some posts may contain links to products, books, or programs that earn me a commission if you purchase. When that’s the case, I disclose it on the page. I only recommend things I have used or trust in my own work. Sponsored or paid placements, if any ever appear, will be clearly labeled as such.
Medical disclaimer
I am not a doctor and nothing on this site is medical advice. If you have a medical concern, talk to a doctor.
